Are you about to graduate from high school, university or TAFE?
Are you excited about the future but a little overwhelmed by all of the possibilities?
Are you nervous about facing the real world of work as an independent adult?
Well, we’d like to think so because the Career Pathway Planning course is all about asking such questions, discussing them, workshopping them and ultimately, helping you come up with a plan that will steer you on the right path when it comes to what you want out of a career (and life in general!).
And by ‘right path’, we mean the right path for YOU.
The Mentorship believes that every single one of us has a unique purpose in life – as unique as our individual skillsets, talents, ideas, personalities and fingerprints! It’s often hard to embrace this in a cookie-cutter world filled with common expectations and standards of what it means to be ‘happy’ and ‘successful.’
We like to challenge the norms and we’ve designed the Career Pathway Planning to help you discover your own important and unique pathway as a young, creative individual, amidst the pressures and challenges of society and culture.
The Career Pathway Planning program is designed to help young people find clarity and confidence in life after school, whether it be high school or tertiary studies.
You may have a range of different interests and passions, and deciding on what exact career path to pursue can often feel overwhelming.
The antidote to overwhelm is action and this online training will guide you to create a viable action plan towards your aspirations, whilst gaining a better understanding of yourself and your purpose in the world.
The CPP mentoring sessions are tailored according to your individual needs, whether the goal is to learn about different jobs and industries, build confidence in your chosen career path, or make an important study or work decision.
You must either be a current tertiary student, or recently graduated and considering your options for future study or work. You must be committed to spending the time to plan and work on career-building strategies with your mentor. It would be ideal for mentees to have regular access to the Internet and phone, with the ability to complete weekly exercises through some form of writing materials (pen, paper, tablet or computer).
This program is all about helping you plan for a future career so we don’t expect you to have everything mapped out! We just recommend that you take a moment or two to think and reflect on what you’re passionate about in life. It may be helpful to make a list of your interests, goals and dreams (no matter how far out they sound!). This will give you a good starting point when you first meet your mentor.
We also recommend that you schedule specific days or times to work on this program, to ensure that you can complete tasks around your current work or study commitments.
Our Mentoring Programs are a flexible and affordable solution for all young people looking for career advice and support.
All of our programs are conducted 100% online and/or by phone, with regular email and Zoom chat support available to mentees.
The Career Pathway Planning program consists of 6 x 1 hour video meetings (1 per week), with the delegation of some written assignments and multimedia exercises for the mentee to complete in their own time.
Given the flexibility of online training, there are no specific term dates and you can enrol at any time, provided you can commit to fulfilling all of the requirements within the program timeframe.
It will be the mentee’s responsibility to book the video sessions – we will provide you the relevant links to do so, but it is in your initiative to follow through.
Since enrolment involves a non-refundable fee – the effort you put into the program will determine how effective the outcomes will be for your particular situation.
Every session will be tailored to your specific needs as a current student, recent graduate or jobseeker. Your mentor will advise and provide you feedback and insights depending on what will be most useful to you for the stage you are at.
Below are a few examples of what may be covered in a single mentoring session:
- Discover new career pathways and possibilities
- Gain insights into the changing job landscape
- Brainstorm and workshop ideas and concerns
- Learn strategies on finding work opportunities
- Create an action plan towards building a sustainable career
Our goal is to ensure that every one of our mentees comes out of the program with greater clarity and confidence about career and life trajectory, but it only works if you are on the same page and ready to learn, commit and do the work to get there!
This unique mentoring program is first and foremost, designed to help you better understand yourself and your goals. We are here to provide both personal and practical guidance so that you can pursue your desired career with confidence and direction.
